Mrs. James Henry Johnson, who with her son, Will Johnson, lately moved here from Milligan to the Gillespie house on E. Howard St. died on Tuesday morning of pulmonary tuberculosis. Mrs. Johnson first became seriously ill in January of this year. Rev. Olin Stewart conducted services at the Methodist Church of which she was a member on Thursday morning. Interment in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson, whose maiden name was Letitia Jane Leamon was born near Summershade, Ky, Sept 6, 1847. She married James Henry Johnson who died April 1895. She leaves 4 children: Mrs. Mattie Branstetter of Summershade, Ky; Mrs. Mary Crow of Milan, Mo; James T. Johnson of Indianapolis and William P. Johnson of this place. A grandson, Bennie Johnson has always made his home with her. Mrs. Crow was here about two weeks ago and James Johnson was here from Indianapolis on Sunday. The children were expected to be here for the funeral. Mrs. Johnson was a worthy woman and the sympathy of the community goes out to the son whose home is thus broken up.

Letitia J. (Leamon) Johnson, the daughter of James G & Mary e. Leamon was born in Metcalf Co Ky Sept 6, 1847. She was the eldest of a family of 9 children, four of whom together with her father and mother, have preceded her to the spirit world. She was converted and joined the Methodist Church in her childhood and lived a devoted Christian life. She was united in marriage to James H. Johnson May 14, 1873. To this union were born 5 children: Mattie B. Branstetter, Willowshade, Ky; Mary E. Crow, Milan, Mo; James T. Johnson, Indianapolis; William P. Johnson at home and Joe Johnson who died in infancy. The father departed this life April 13, 1895. She with her family removed to Indiana in October 1901 and resided in Milligan and vicinity until a few weeks ago when she removed to Waveland where she departed this life March 25, 1919 aged 71Y 6M 19D. Besides the children, she leaves to mourn her loss, two grandchildren, Bennie and Robert A. Johnson. Two sisters, Priscilla J. Forrester, of Earlington Ky; Sudie E. Smith of Beaumont, Ky; two brothers, John P. Leamon, Pennville, Ind; and Marion B. Leamon, Clarks Hill and a host of other relatives and friends are also left to mourn. She was a loving companion and a devoted mother. We realize our loss is her gain and humbly submit to the will of Him who doeth all things well.....Those out of town that attended the funeral of Mrs. L.J. Johnson were: JP Leamon of Pennville; Mrs. PJ Forrester of Earlington, Ky; MB Leamon, wife and son, James of Clarks Hill; Taylor Bartley and wife of Romney; James H Johnson and wife of Indianapolis; Mrs. MB Branstetter of Summershade, Ky; also friends, of Milligan where she had lived for some time past.
